Morpeth Book Festival 2022

An inaugural and prestige event to showcase and applaud literature. The market town of Morpeth has the highest density of readers in the county whose positive energy whether reading for pleasure, learning or to assist with mental health during a pandemic, is beneficial to everyone. This festival, which may well become an annual event, is a collaboration between Greater Morpeth Development Trust, Northumberland Libraries, and Northumberland County Council. In addition to their contribution, local business sponsors include Pleased To Meet You, Specsavers Morpeth, TMP Wealth Management, and Maseco LLP.

Authors include the award-winning crime writing creator of the Vera series, Ann Cleeves; and the Hollywood scriptwriter, novelist and television producer Chuck Hogan – the latter will be making a virtual appearance to introduce the ‘Dystopian Fiction’ section of our Festival. Day 1 (Sat 9th April) will close with ‘A Conversation with Mari Hannah‘, award-winning crime writer of the Kate Daniels series of books including latest release ‘Her Last Request’.

Boswell Book Festival 2022

You can browse the programme online and you can find copies at Dumfries House café and visitor centre as well as in selected Waterstones shops and other local venues. Thanks to the authors and loyal festival-goers for their enthusiastic response. We particularly enjoyed the comment from a regular in Ayrshire who found it difficult to choose so bought all 3 talks for the same time and will give two of them away to friends on the day!

With limited capacity for the workshops, don’t miss out on the opportunity to join Katharine Grant on using your own family history in writing fiction and Vivian French on how to write for children. BBF goes hybrid in 2022 so if you enjoyed our online festival last year, and live too far away to travel in person, we can’t wait to welcome you back too. Most of our events will also be streamed live.
