Jim Crow – Outwith Hadrian’s Wall: The Romans between the Tyne and Tweed

Public interest and most Roman archaeologists focus their interests on the walls of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius. My talk will survey what is known of the Roman forts, camps and roads in Northumberland and the Borders and what we can learn of how they controlled and negotiated the lands beyond the frontier.
